We kicked off our Meet the Manager series by interviewing Kim, our Operations Manager. Next up, meet BlueFrog’s Client Relationship Manager, Laura. She shares a behind the scenes look at leading the ever-busy Client Relationship department, how she landed her role, tips for budding marketers, and more.
Hi, I’m Laura, the Client Relationship Manager for BlueFrog Media.
What is your department responsible for?
I run a team of strategists and creatives alike, from relationship managers and content creators, to graphic designers and search engine marketers. All form a strong part of the overarching BlueFrog service.
What has kept you working here for so long?
There is a lot of progression in BlueFrog; I have moved from part-time content writer and account manager to managing a large team in less than a year. I get to work with a huge variety of clients and every day is different with new challenges presenting themselves – I’m a sucker for a busy working week and like to be kept on my toes.
Tell us something people don’t know about you.
My guilty pleasure is reality TV – it helps me unwind.
Why do you think a presence across various social media channels is so important?
Customer expectation is to have their questions answered almost instantly and to be able to get the information they want at the click of a button. Social allows this, as well as satisfying the nosy and curious nature in all of us that wants to find out a little more about the brands and products we love.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
The variation day to day and the ability to influence strategy, not only for clients but how we market and run BlueFrog itself.
What do you find to be most challenging about it?
Wanting to please everybody and the realisation of not always being able to.
What are the values that drive you?
Hard work, determination, passion and honesty.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I love my home and enjoy creating an eclectic space and searching for unique pieces to fill it with. I also love to craft – just wish there were more hours in the day to do it!
We know you love spending time with your little boy, Rex. What’s your favourite place to take him for a day out?
He loves animals, so a farm is a big hit. We recently discovered Lower Twitchen Farm, Huntshaw which is a lovely day out, perfect for toddlers to explore.
How do you think BlueFrog compares to others in the industry?
We are among very few, if any, to provide a social media service 9am-9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We have a well rounded service with social media community management at its core and the ability to be both proactive and reactive to clients’ marketing needs. I want to continue to build on our service and grow along with the ever-changing social platforms we work with.
What initially sparked your interest in social media marketing?
I like working in a fast paced industry and influencing activity for clients. Social media is exciting and ever-changing, and a must in everyone’s marketing strategy.
What features would you say make a strong team?
Communication, willingness to listen, learn and improve, passion and patience.
Do you have any tips for budding social media marketers?
Be accepting that things don’t stay the same for long; you have to move along with social changes and find new ways to work and adapt your strategies. Keep brand tone of voice, key objectives and customer service in mind at all times, but don’t forget to push the boundaries and experiment.
